CELLvo™ Matrix Plus promotes rapid maturation of hiPSC-CMs in as little 7 days. Widespread adoption of hiPSC-CM assays for pre-clinical cardiotoxicity screening has been stalled until maturation of the human heart muscle cells was solved-using CELLvo™ Matrix Plus coated cell culture dishes.

Relative to typically used Matrigel extracellular matrix (ECM), hiPSC-CMs plated on CELLvo™ Matrix Plus have enhanced maturation indicated by multi-nucleation (blue), ordered sarcomeres (red) and intercellular localization of gap junction proteins (green). These hiPSC-CMs, plated on CELLvo™ Matrix Plus ECM resemble the shape, structure and function of native human heart muscle cells. Now high throughput screening for cardiotoxicity can be performed in vitro using mature human cardiomyocytes.

Widespread adoption of hiPSC-CMs is a giant step towards Reducing, Refining and Replacing the use of animals in the drug discovery pipeline.
