John Harper, Ph.D.

Dr. John Harper has devoted his career to health and life sciences for more than 20 years. He serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Acelity (formally Kinetic Concepts, Inc.).  He previously served as KCI’s Senior Vice President of Advanced Research and Technology.

For 17 years Dr. Harper served as VP of Clinical Sciences at LifeCell Corp., the leader in acellular scaffold technology and maker of the Graftjacket regenerative tissue matrix. After LifeCell was acquired by KCI, Dr. Harper joined the R&D side of the team. He has 40 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters to his credit, with his principal areas of research including extracellular matrix biochemistry and wound healing.

He received his Ph.D. in biomedical science from The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and completed postdoctoral training in cancer biochemistry and cell biology at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California and the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland.
