A NATURAL SUBSTRATE FOR NEURONAL CULTURES
CELLvo™ NeuroMatrix is an Extracellular Matrix coated product that provides unique support for neuronal cultures. When grown on this matrix, human neurons and other neural support cells attach and exhibit healthy phenotypes. CELLvo™ NeuroMatrix is composed of more than 100 proteins that were secreted and assembled by healthy human astrocytes. The final product is decellularized leaving a native three-dimensional microenvironment for easy culture of neuronal cell types. A brief 1-hour rehydration step is all that is required before seeding cells to be cultured.

Q: How does CELLvo™ NeuroMatrix compare to other commercially available substrates?
CELLvo™ NeuroMatrix is the only substrate that attempts to recreate multiple aspects of the native cell niche. It is increasingly recognized that the extracellular matrix plays a key role in dictating cell fate. However, standard substrates do very little to recreate the niche in which normal human neurons typically reside. Using our biomimetic approach we create a tissue specific in vitro niche, that allows cells to behave as they would in the body.
Q: How do I use CELLvo™ NeuroMatrix
CELLvo™ NeuroMatrix is extremely easy to use. Since the matrix is air-dried onto the culture vessel, all you have to do is rehydrate the matrix using sterile PBS for one hour, wash the plate, and then seed your cells. This process eliminates potential sources of variability due to human error in coating dishes and SAVES YOU TIME!
Q: How will CELLvo™ NeuroMatrix impact my results?
It is very difficult for us to make general statements about this. For every cell type, the impact may be different. What we do know is that from years of work with cell-derived matrices for various tissues, is that you can expect more biologically-relevant phenotypes from cells when they are cultured in an appropriate tissue-specific matrix.
Q: Is CELLvo™ NeuroMatrix produced under GMP guidelines?
No. CELLvo™ NeuroMatrix is intended for research use only (RUO). None of our products should be used in therapeutics outside of animal studies done with approval of an institutional review board.
Q: What cell types can I use with CELLvo™ NeuroMatrix?
CELLvo™ NeuroMatrix supports healthy mono, co-, and tri-cultures of a variety of human PSC-derived neurons and neural support cells. With our collaborators, we have tested CELLvo™ NeuroMatrix with astrocytes, microglia, and a variety of neurons including spinal motor neurons, glutaminergic and glutamatergic neurons.
