From the San Antonio Business Journal - Reporter W. Scott Bailey

The Advanced Medical Technology Association — based in Washington, D.C. — will honor San Antonio bioscience leader Cathy Burzik on Wednesday with its 2019 AdvaMed Lifetime Achievement Award during the annual MedTech Conference in Boston.

“Cathy has been on the cutting edge of innovation since her first job out of college as a software engineer,” AdvaMed President and CEO Scott Whitaker said in a news release. “Throughout her long and distinguished career, she has always been guided by the desire to put technology at the forefront of health care — all with the aim of helping patients.”

More recently, Burzik has focused on early-stage investments in companies developing groundbreaking or disruptive health care technologies. She is on the boards of several health care organizations, including San Antonio-based StemBioSys Inc. and Xenex Disinfection Services.
